Yesterday, April 17, 2020, Wanuko were celebrating the birthday of Takahiro ‘Taka’ Moriuchi, and what better way to celebrate it with the none other than the band themselves. It was announced earlier this month that One OK Rock will have a weekly premier of their concert in their official Youtube channel. First in the list is their 2014 concert in Yokohama Stadium.

In this time of crisis, we have been imprisoned in the four corners of our room. Feeling the melancholic ambience of being nowhere. And for the past month, the only sound that pulsates greatly is silence. Even the busy streets have now been emptied, everything has been muted. Rowdy is gone and the serenity it brought was just momentary. Now, the growing silence is deafening and I want to be saved from this predicament.

Thankfully, One OK Rock change the tune of my emotions. They amp’ed me up with their over to the top performances during their ‘Mighty Long Fall: Yokohama Stadium Concert’. It is an indoor stadium that can occupy 17000 people, and guess what, the place is jampacked. The stadium is full of Wanuko fans from all the world (mostly Japanese). Audiences are masterfully positioned to get the vibes and glimpsed of their favorite band. The lighting synchronisation is well timed and the band’s energy fueled it up more.

Yours truly was late. I got back home around 10:30 PM and sang along on their 12th track which is ‘Be The Light’. This is an English lyric song and the message is so beautiful. The concert lasted for almost 3 hours and they have line-up 22 songs. In my mind, at least I got halfway through their concert. Even during spiels after one song, my eyes are still glued as if I understand Japanese. Subconsciously, I long to watch the concert in sequence and here it is now, wish granted and thus no time to blink or be distracted.

As I listened to Taka’s overpowered vocals, I am also multitasking reading comments. I did try going to the chat section to send my love to the band but it flashes in an instant. It has 150000 active accounts spamming hearts, flooding likes and sending emojis. In a matter of second, your post is overlapped by someone else’s post. Not that it matters, as we, Wanuko are just their quenched our thirst for a good noise and be part of that rowdy yet disciplined crowd. Additionally, One OK Rock trended worldwide in the social media platform Twitter as well (so grateful guys).

Watching them on their concert (Youtube) is mesmerizing, how much more if I will get to watch them live in the future. Going back, they did have their first PH concert way back 2017 of January. Unfortunately, I was not able to prepare and missed it. Fast forward to today, they are having their Eye Of The Storm Southeast Asia concert and PH is scheduled for May 2020, though all is postponed due to the pandemic. This time for sure, I will be one of the crowd singing along favorite One OK Rock songs live, with the band, and fellow Wanuko.
